I came upon an interesting article over @ the VMWare Networking Blog, discussing Network Segmentation & the security implications of using VLAN's as opposed to physical networks, to totally collapsed DMZ's, etc. They do a nice job going into many of the potential attack vectors you need to worry about when you simply rely on VLANS instead of physical segmentation.
There seems to be a large move to virtualizing everthing in the datacenter, with disregard to the beauties of physical separation, especially at L2. If you are planning on using VMWare in a secure environment, don't discount the value in physical isolation of hosts and networks. VShields may be quick and simple today, but should an exploit be found, you'll be spending alot more time and money trying to pull your infrastructure apart if you need true physical isolation.
Another great resource sited in the article is the VMWare Best Practices: Network Segmentation in Virtualized Environments

If you are creating your own custom RHEL ISO this is how you make it bootable.
One reason to create your own custom RHEL ISO is to include a custom kickstart file and have the installer kick off automatically on boot.
mkisofs -r -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -boot-load-size 4 -no-emul-boot -boot-info-table -iso-level 4 -o <image_name.iso> <source_folder_name>

Over at Open Source and Enterprise Architecture Blog, Andrig Miller goes into some good detail regarding Large Memory Pages and Java. I plan on implementing these changes in my QA environment today, and will see how things go. I'll cobble together a JMeter test for before and after, and report back here with my results. Neal posted a link to a handy Large Memory Page Calculator, which I'll be using to build my configs.

My first try and I got it!
Thank you all for the support and believing in me! Especially my wife (Love you babe!), my friend Adam, and all my colleagues at Plateau (thanks for footing the bill!). Now I can finally freaking relax.
