If you are creating your own custom RHEL ISO this is how you make it bootable.

One reason to create your own custom RHEL ISO is to include a custom kickstart file and have the installer kick off automatically on boot.

mkisofs -r -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -boot-load-size 4 -no-emul-boot -boot-info-table -iso-level 4 -o <image_name.iso> <source_folder_name>

Over at Open Source and Enterprise Architecture Blog, Andrig Miller goes into some good detail regarding Large Memory Pages and Java. I plan on implementing these changes in my QA environment today, and will see how things go. I'll cobble together a JMeter test for before and after, and report back here with my results. Neal posted a link to a handy Large Memory Page Calculator, which I'll be using to build my configs.

D-Day - RHCE Exam Tomorrow

Posted on 1240539054|%A: %d %B, %Y @ %H:%M|agohover by radikaledradikaled

So Day 4 is over and tomorrow is the RHCE Exam. Wish me luck!

Looking back the Rapid Track course fulfilled my expectations which were to fill in the cracks of my existing knowledge. If I don't pass tomorrow, it won't be because I don't know the material, it just means I wasn't fast enough in the exam. Although I have every intention of passing tomorrow and I remain confident I will. At the very least I have gained the confidence to know that what I knew was what I was supposed to know :P

That in itself is worth the experience in my opinion. If you are like me and doubt your knowledge of working Linux experience, take the class and you might surprise yourself!

And with that I'm off to bed to clear my head and let all my past experiences sink in.

Carpe Diem!
